The intense experience of creating an instrument and learning to play that instrument, during my first semester at PNCA snow balled into my current love for the Ukulele.
Last month Frank Irby encouraged me to make a video for the Bushman World Ukulele Contest. So I threw myself into learning “I Will Follow You into the Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie, until I knew it by heart and could practically play it in my sleep.
Last Saturday I spent all day outside in the freezing temperatures, wearing nothing but a dress, to record the footage that would become the music video. If you watch my video closely, in parts you can actually see my breath.
I suffered from more than thirteen computer crashes during the editing process, and found myself within hours of the deadline. So I was forced to choose quantity over quality in order to meet the deadline, and subsequently parts of my video aren’t synced with the track. But I have to say, I’ve never had more fun withstanding the cold to produce a video.
Which leads me to the end of my not-so-lengthy back story and to the part where I plead with you to vote for my video. This would be where I would introduce a thousand pleases repeated insistently. Followed by large puppy dog eyes, and don’t forget the pouty lip and the never forgotten phrase: “Pretty please with cherries on top?”
