Wow you've been neglected!

Long time no talk! I apologize if I neglect this blog, for more regular updates follow me over on Tumblr or Facebook
My portrait of Queen Levana and submission to the Fairest Contest.
I chose to portray her as she might have seemed while she was visiting Kai inCinder, dressed in a traditional Chinese gown and a customized headdress in place of her crown (minus her veil of course). The two gold disks at either side of her head are embossed to look like the moon, along with the many rubies embedded in the other hair pieces. I imagine that she would be very fond of rubies and red embroidery, because of their similarity to blood. Her earrings also resemble that of hanging corpses; the ruby being the severed head, the main part being the torso, and the two dangling gold pieces the hands.

"She was indeed beautiful, as if someone had taken the scientific measurements of perfection and used them to mold a single ideal specimen. Her face was slightly heart-shaped, with high cheekbones barely flushed. Auburn hair fell in silken ringlets to her waist and her unblemished ivory skin shimmered like mother-of-pearl in the sunshine. Her lips were red red red, looking like she’d just drunk a pint of blood." - From Cinder by Marissa Meyer pg. 183
Some quickie Lunar Chronicles fan art of the lovely Winter -or my perception of Winter. I have this idea in my head that she really likes Victorian and Rococo styled things; pale, pastel colors, things that stand out starkly against her own warm brown skin and also remind her of innocent, happy things to combat her visions of blood on the walls. A totally unfounded opinion, but my opinion nonetheless.
Some late night tragic Clariel and Belatiel sketchy fan art for you all.
To my fellow Abhorsen fans, if you haven’t gone and gotten your copy ofClariel by Garth Nix I’m very disappointed in you and you need to go get a copy immediately. It was certainly not what I was expecting, and I now have to go back and read the whole trilogy for the bazillionth time for reasons.

"In a Field of Orchids" 6.5"x10" Digital. Amanda Zito. 2014

Orchids have many associations with symbolic values. It's the city flower of Shaoxing, China, and has been used in traditional medicine since 2800 BC.
In Greek Mythology, Orchis was the son of a nymph and a satyr. During a celebratory feast for Bacchus, Orchis committed the sacrilege of attempting to rape a priestess, resulting in his being torn apart by wild beasts, then metamorphosing into a slender and modest plant.

Gotta Love the Pretty Ladies

Here are a few of the commissions I've been doing from my Fiverr, and the last one are some sketches of one of my new friends!
I love drawing pretty ladies it makes me happy, and it just makes it that much better when I get paid for it!

I also went on a Lunar Chronicles Fan Art Spree.... The ones above are from the first book: Cinder by Marissa Meyer
(From left to right: Linh Adri (the evil stepmother), Linh Pearl (the mean step sister), and Linh Peony (the nice step sister) ). You can read the first 5 chapters for free HERE

Next, I have for you the Main Character of the second book: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.
Her name is Scarlet Benoit, and I have a feeling she's going to be my favorite character, based only on her temper. She's wearing a body suit because she's a futuristic delivery girl, and futuristic delivery girls are sexy. Seriously.

"She released a guttural scream and slammed the port down on the ship's control panel, hoping to shatter it into pieces of plastic and metal and wire. After three solid whaps, the screen only flickered in mild irritation. "You idiots!" She threw the port at the floorboards in front of the passenger seat and slumped back, stringing her curly hair through her finger.
Her harness cut into her chest, suddenly strangling, and she released the buckle and kicked open her door at the same time, half falling into the alley's shadows. The grease and whiskey scent from the tavern nearly choked her as she swallowed her breaths, trying to rationalize her way out of the anger." - Chapter Teaser from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer the second book in The Lunar Chronicles.

The whole teaser can be found HERE

Wolf. Also from Marissa Meyer's Scarlet.
“Don’t be like that. He’s sweet! And he’s been here almost every day this week and he keeps sitting in my section, which definitely means something, don’t you think?” When Scarlet said nothing, the waitress set the bin down and fished a pack of gum from her apron pocket. “He’s always really quiet, not like Roland and his crowd. I think he’s shy … and lonely.” - from the Chapter Teaser for SCARLET by Marissa Meyer.
There really isn’t even a description of this guy yet, but come on. His name is WOLF. He’s gotta be smokin’ hot. This is my logic.
Just. Umf.

Yay more Fan Art this time it’s Emilie from Marissa Meyer’s SCARLET
She’s a waitress, and so far seems to be Scarlet’s somewhat dimwitted friend.
Despite the angelic blonde curls that surrounded Émilie’s face, her grin suggested very devilish thoughts.” -from the Chapter Teaser from SCARLET by Marissa Meyer
Yeah yeah yeah, I realize it says she has blonde curls, but the only thing that stuck in my head was a blonde waitress who had a hankering for lots of boys… thus the straightened hair, mini skirt and wide-eyed innocence.

Went on an adventure to the Columbia Gorge. This time we explored the Bridal Veil Falls, and the Horsetail Falls area. Oh, and I climbed a fuzzy tree. It was fun :)

Adventures in Printing

Getting my Prints ready for the Show on Friday
So, at the end of this week I'll have work at a Last Friday Party at 2119 North Kerby Street, here in Portland, I'm one of about six or more artists that are showing their work that night. On that note, all of my originals are either in Montana, or in the Dark Star Tattoo shop in Vancouver. So I went on the hunt to find the cheapest place I could find to make prints.
As you can see in the image below, most places want $20 or more for individual prints around the 18x24 size. Then, if you want to rush it, it's an extra $17-22 dollars for the order! After doing a lot of hunting, I surprisingly ended up at Walmart. I was very iffy about trusting them to come out alright, but I was pleasantly surprised. The colors are good, and they print on nice heavy paper too. ( Unlike the paper they call "poster paper" at Office Max that still costed $20.) The only kind of fuzzy one that came out was my Bison, but that was my own fault because the resolution of the file wasn't high enough to print that big. So I'm officially going to Walmart whenever I have to print things now.
A portion of my hunt for  somewhere that would give me cheap prints including; Deviantart, Soceity6, Shutterfly, Office Depot, Staples, and finally Walmart.

If you missed it last Wednesday this is my Guest Comic I did for Withfetus.com
My second piece of news is that I'm going to Kumoricon September 1-3  in Vancouver, WA! It's my first convention everr, and in honor of my cosplay I did a bit of Peggy Cater Fan Art :)

The finished piece.

Also, here's some more fan art for Titan Magic by the amazing Jodi Lamm. I'm re-reading the book, because it's that awesome.
I highly recommend you go check it out on kindle! It’s only like $3 and worth $20!
